I recently realized that I have now entered a new realm within the world that is known as school. It is the realm of the teacher. It requires me to multi-task, remember, and perform miracles on a level that I didn't think a human being could possibly function. However, I find that I truly love being a teacher. The comments from kids alone are enough to keep me coming back to work. For example: "Ms. Pittman, I know where there's a room in this school that's full of light houses."....don't ask. Anyhoo, it has been an eye-opener. Let's just say I'm reeeeeeally glad I work in the district I do.
Aside from having bronchitis and a sinus infection, things have gone pretty smoothly the past couple of weeks. (And yes, I'm sick....again). Well, except for the fact that my mother and I had the most irrational fight I believe I have ever had, and it was me that was the irrational one. sigh. Not my best moment. Don't worry, I apologized like a good daughter should.
Well, I guess there is only one thing left for me to do, and that is to make another list. This one will be about things that I love about school (*clearing throat*):
Sharpies
Post-it notes
Dry erase boards and markers
Walking in the halls when everyone else is in class
Writing on an overhead
Hearing the question: "Can we please read?"
Hearing the phrase: "Oh...I get it."
Seeing students smile (in a good way) as I teach.
Sigh. The End.
k, bye.

i loved this post. those things do sound lovely about being a teacher. girl you need to get well. i remember your cough from the last time we hung out. i'm normally the irrational one for evertyhing. dont worry!
please be kind an keep in mind that some kids are socially behind. if they cry, or if they whine, dont hit them with a stick from the shady pine. that's all i can rhyme. ok goodbye.
